Abstract:
Description:
The objective of this research was to analyze the influence of artificial intelligence on the autonomous learning skills of sixth-grade students, with the purpose of understanding how this technology affects critical thinking and reflective abilities within the Science subject at San Cristóbal School, located in Roxana, Pococí, Limón, during the period from September 2025 to April 2026. The study was conducted using a qualitative, exploratory approach supported by the analytical method. The participants included seven sixth-grade students, who took part in a focus group, and two Science teachers responsible for teaching the subject at this educational level. The findings revealed that artificial intelligence has a positive influence on students, as they use these tools to strengthen knowledge, develop critical thinking, and improve analytical skills. However, the results also highlighted the need for greater guidance and support regarding the appropriate use of these technologies to ensure effective and responsible implementation. Based on the findings, an educational proposal was designed consisting of a workshop aimed at sixth-grade students to promote the proper use of artificial intelligence in the development of assignments, projects, and extracurricular work, fostering autonomous learning and strengthening academic skills essential to their educational development.
