Abstract:
Esta lectura está enfocada en tratar algunos aspectos ambientales, que sin lugar a duda afectarán el desarrollo del embarazo y toda la vida del nuevo ser. Se abordan tres periodos críticos que podrían poner en riesgo el proceso de gestación. Adicionalmente, son expuestas algunas problemáticas relacionadas con el consumo de drogas durante el periodo gestacional, entre las drogas se presentan las siguientes: alcohol, marihuana, nicotina, cocaína y cafeína. Además, se indican algunas enfermedades que puede contraer la madre durante el embarazo y que pueden incidir directamente en el feto, tal como: la diabetes, el herpes y el síndrome de inmunodeficiencia adquirida.
Por último, se presenta la experiencia del parto considerando tres etapas fundamentales: dilatación, nacimiento y expulsión de la placenta.

This reading is focused on some environmental aspects that will undoubtedly affect the development of the pregnancy and the whole life of the new being. Three critical periods that could jeopardize the gestation process are addressed. Additionally, some problems related to drug consumption during the gestational period are exposed, among the drugs presented are the following: alcohol, marijuana, nicotine, cocaine and caffeine. In addition, some diseases that can be contracted by the mother during pregnancy and that can directly affect the fetus are indicated, such as: diabetes, herpes and acquired immunodeficiency syndrome.
Finally, the experience of childbirth is presented considering three fundamental stages: dilation, birth and expulsion of the placenta.
