Abstract:
Description:
This report describes and analyzes a mixed-methods case study conducted in collaboration between San Marcos University and the National System for Accreditation of Higher Education.
The research consists of an applied diagnostic phase to evaluate university faculty's knowledge and motivation regarding the training process for the use and application of artificial intelligence in teaching and active learning strategies, such as Question-Based Learning for Understanding and Problem-Based Learning.
Based on the findings, conclusions, and analysis of recommendations, it can be stated that the research objectives were met. The study successfully introduced participating faculty members to lesson planning with AI, established and acknowledged their level of familiarity with the technology, and identified the potential of AI to support pedagogical mediation, according to the post-workshop qualitative and quantitative analysis.
Among the relevant findings; The study highlights that one of the most familiar and frequently used tools is technological learning languages like ChatGPT. It also emphasizes their ability to generate complex learning questions, provide reasoned answers, and self-assess teaching performance. The study concludes that these capabilities represent, and are perceived as, a significant threat to the integrity of online exams, despite their widespread use and application. Current methods of regulation and review are deemed insufficient. While strengths such as the opening to new forms of lesson planning are acknowledged, the project identified limitations such as voluntary participation and the need for secure future monitoring, underscoring the need for ethical and responsible use of AI in education to address these challenges.
